A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
